Jim Combs
Deacon, Trustee, CARE Shepherding
Jim has been a member of EMCC since 1991. He and his wife of 31(2016) years, Kandee, came here after attending Palestine Church for many years. Four short years later in 1995, Jim became a Deacon for East Main. And a year after that he volunteered to become a Trustee and head up the CARE Shepherding Ministry.
His favorite thing about being a Deacon is serving the Lord. He does so through shepherding the flock at EMCC and also through maintaining the building for the congregation. Jim is the go-to handy man but also the go-to Bible man. He certainly knows his stuff!
Jim’s favorite verse is 1 Corinthians 10:31 - So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
Aleene Cromwell
Fellowship
Aleene is the head of the Fellowship Ministry. She has attended East Main since she was a little girl starting in 1948. She brought her husband of 29 years, Tom, to the church where they have both become very important leaders. Aleene took charge of the Fellowship Ministry in 1991 and has been keeping everyone welcomed and well fed ever since.
Her favorite thing about EMCC is the people. She loves that everyone who walks through those doors is potential family member. Not just a church member. The church is a really inviting atmosphere and that helps people to relax and really get to know one another.
Aleene’s favorite verse is James 1:19 &20 - My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires.
Karolyn Fellers
Education
Karolyn is the head of the Education program at East Main. She has been diligently keeping the teachers stocked up on materials and supplies since 1990. She has been attending EMCC since 1967.
Her favorite things about East Main Church of Christ are the people and the minister. She enjoys the lessons and the approach that Mr. Morehouse implements in his sermons. Karolyn loves the atmosphere of the church and the close knit community.
Karolyn’s favorite verse is Esther 4:14 - For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?”
Marilyn Fellers
Missions, Co-Treasurer
Marilyn is the Co-Treasurer and the head of the Missions Ministry. She has also been a member since 1967. Marilyn has very precisely divided up funds and allocated them to the missions that East Main supports since XXXX. She has been co-treasurer with Tom since 1998, both of them keeping each other accountable.
Her favorite things about EMCC are also the minister and the people. Marilyn likes that Mr. Morehouse is very ‘hands-on’ with the community and the congregation. He doesn’t sit and tell others what they should be out doing, he’s out doing it. She loves the feeling of family at the church.
Marilyn’s favorite verse is Psalm 23 - The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
Kurtis Long
Elder, Worship, Secretary
Kurtis is an Elder, Secretary, and Worship Ministry Leader. He started attending East Main in 1986. He and his wife, Brenda, were married at East Main Church of Christ 27(2016) years ago. Immediately after becoming a member he became the worship leader and has been leading Sunday worship, organizing choir performances, and recruiting others to help praise the Lord through song ever since. A few short years later, around 1990, he also took on the role of Secretary. And then in 1998, he decided to expand his horizons further and accepted the nomination to become an Elder.
Kurtis’ favorite thing about EMCC is the diversity. He loves how we accept and incorporate different styles of worship into our services.
His favorite verse is James 1:5 - If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.
